About
These Apartments
Originally
built in 1887 to replace a home lost in the great Chicago fire,
this Historic Landmark designated coachhouse was completely renovated
in late 2001. It now features start of the art details ranging from
kitchens made for cooks to the latest in built-in computer and video
cabling. Original period details such as wood mouldings inside and
out have been preserved for an authentic period flavor.
Each
one floor apartment offers two bedrooms, one bath, decks fore and
aft, a state-of-the-art kitchen, and a generously sized living-dining
room. There are hardwood floors throughout.
The
kitchen features granite countertops, a stainless steel gas range
and oven, a built in microwave and a flush-cabinet refrigerator.
The
apartments are heated and air conditioned with new, energy efficient
units. New Pella thermopane windows and scads of insulation help
ensure that energy bills will be reasonable.
Both
apartments have access to an in-building laundry room, with a washer-dryer
stack dedicated to each apartment. A heated garage spot on the first
floor is also available at extra cost.
Not
least of the desirable features is the location in the heart of
Chicago's historic Old Town neighborhood. Within easy walking distance
are nightspots such as the famed Second City or the legendary Twin
Anchors. Efficient bus and elevated trains make commuting a snap.
